Are You Compliant?

HIPAA Compliant is something that will always be around and the importance of it never wavers. Being HIPAA Compliant is not just important, but it can also be mandatory for many healthcare organizations. According to HIPAA guidelines, all health data that is created, stored, maintained, or transmitted must be kept secure at all times.  If confidential information is not secured properly and there is any failure to comply with the HIPAA rules and regulations, medical organizations will be faced with financial penalties, or even civil suits.

We all know the pandemic has forced many things to be put on hold, but unfortunately, HIPAA violations are still happening. It’s true that the Office for Civil Rights (OCR) has relaxed some requirements during this time, but we can expect a surplus of penalty announcements coming up that could be related to COVID.

If you still don’t believe that HIPAA violations occur, right before the COVID-19 outbreak, the OCR published this one (of many) headlines:

March 3, 2020 – OCR fines 1-doctor medical practice $100,000 for not having an accurate and thorough security risk analysis.

Luckily, CATS Technology Solutions Group has many technicians who are certified and trained to make sure your organization meets HIPAA regulations. CATS will conduct a security risk assessment, so you can view your security and network risks. Then, we will come up with a remediation plan to minimize risk and meet HIPAA regulations. You will get regularly run network and security scans that will provide quarterly reports to make sure you stay in compliance.
