Meet Richard Dooley Jr!

Richard is a Junior Consultant at CATS Technology Solutions Group. He grew up in Roanoke, Virginia. He had barely any neighbors there, so moving to New Jersey 4 years ago has brought him to very different surroundings. Richard currently has his Associate’s Degree in Networking and Information Technology from Brookdale Community College. Once he gains a little more experience, he plans to go for his Bachelor’s Degree in CyberSecurity.

Right out of high school, Richard didn’t plan on getting into the IT field at first. He originally wanted to follow in his mother’s footsteps and become a nurse. He quickly found out that, after working as a nursing assistant and realizing he wears his heart on his sleeve, it may not be the right fit for him in the long run. After moving up to New Jersey, as well as committing his name on the dotted line in school, he fell in love with IT and Networking. He never realized how much he actually knew and didn’t know about the IT field. He loves being able to learn new things, and credits his wonderful teachers for paving the way for him. He worked very hard for his degree and is so proud that he has made it as far as he has!

In his spare time, Richard loves playing with his puppy, Shiro (named after the main character in MS-08th team for anybody who knows Gundam). He’s the best pup a man could ask for! He spends time on his Nintendo Switch and PS4 for fun, as well.

In the future, Richard hopes to gear his career towards something in CyberSecurity, and is currently studying for his Network+. He wants stability, mainly for his family back home, and wants to put their mind at ease that he is successfully following what he is passionate about!

Fun Facts About Richard:

  1. I moved to New Jersey four whole years ago to be with my current girlfriend! I then decided to attend college, and I graduated last year in May! I also live and take care of her grandfather at home.
  2. I still love watching anime as well as reading manga! I grew up watching classics like Dragon Ball Z, Yu Yu Hakusho, etc.
  3. Nearly five years ago when I first started working in Nursing, I started working home to home with different patients as a Home Health Aide. When I first moved to New Jersey, I became a Companion for the elderly, and I’ve been one ever since even to this day! I mainly work with adults with special needs nowadays, but I decided to keep my part time job for extra stability even though IT is my main focus!
